The first joint event on deciding strategic issues for the future transboundary biosphere reserve took place in Shkodra/Skadar on December 20 and 21, 2023. There have been 38 participants from different sectors from Albania and Montenegro, all dedicated, motivated and enthusiastic about reaching the valuable and important UNESCO designation of Man and Bisophere.

The first draft of the Scope and Vision for this transboundary biosphere reserve has been designed, in participatory and inspiring process that was guided and moderated by the experts certified in Open Standards methodology. This was the first building block in important process that will be rolling out in the coming months.

The activity was organized within the project “Skadar/Shkoder Lake Watershed – a Transboundary Biosphere Reserve” which is financially supported by EU through the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Program Montenegro – Albania and implemented by: EDEN center, National Agency of Protected Areas in Albania and EnvPro and National Parks in Montenegro.
